In its statement, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE underlines the following regarding the escalation of the war in the Middle East:

"Iran's expected attack on Israel, in retaliation for the criminal attack by the Israeli state on Iran´s embassy in Damascus, Syria, killing Iranian officials, constitutes a dangerous escalation of the war in the Middle East that could reach frightening proportions in the event of an attack by Israel and its allies against Iran.

From the very first moment, the KKE had warned that the Israeli occupation and the genocide against the Palestinian people, with the support of the USA, NATO and the EU, the Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon, as well as the imperialist antagonisms in the Red Sea, with the presence of Euro-Atlantic military forces and the participation of Greece, create the conditions for the generalization of the war and open the "gates of hell". The peoples of the region, including the Greek people, are caught up in the maelstrom of great dangers.

Greece, under the responsibility of the New Democracy government and with the complicity of SYRIZA, PASOK and the other parties, is deeply implicated in two simultaneous imperialist wars, in the Middle East and Ukraine, with painful consequences.

The people must step up their demand to the ND government for the immediate withdrawal of its support to the murderous state of Israel, for the disengagement of our country from the imperialist wars, for the closure of the US-NATO bases and infrastructure and for the return of the frigate "Hydra" from the EU operation "Aspides" in the Red Sea.

The people must not accept to become "cannon fodder"  for the imperialists, for the interests of the Greek bourgeoisie. They must firmly condemn the ND government and the NATO and Euro-Atlantic parties and give strength to the KKE which consistently fights so that the peoples can live in peace, throwing off the capitalist barbarity that gives rise to wars, poverty and refugees".
